The Last of Us, the tv show, gets a full trailer

In celebration of Last of Us day, which is the date that the pandemic in the game started (weird thing to celebrate but ok), HBO have released the first proper trailer for The Last of Us, the tv series that is set to tell the story from the original game, check it out.

The series will tell the story of what happens twenty years after modern civilization was destroyed. Joel (Pedro Pascal), a seasoned survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie ( Bella Ramsey) - a 14-year-old girl - out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job, soon turns into a brutal and harrowing journey, as the two must traverse the U.S. depending on each other to survive.

Of course, the show is going to follow the main plot of the game, but there will be changes here and there, as some game elements never translate well to movies or shows and vice versa.

In addition to Pascal and Ramsey, the show will star Gabriel Luna as Tommy, while Anna Torv as Tess. Also participating are Nico Parker as Sarah, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Nick Offerman as Bill.

Storm Reid will be Riley, Merle Dandridge will bring Marlene to life. Jeffrey Pierce will play Perry, Lamar Johnson will be Henry, and Keivonn Woodard will be seen as Sam. In addition, the production will also feature guest appearances by Graham Greene as Marlon, Elaine Miles as Florence, with game stars Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker also getting some roles in the show, but those are secret.

Beyond 2023 there isn’t a release date for it yet, but sometime around the middle of next year, if not a year from now, would make sense. I could see them either starting the show on Last of Us Day or having it end on that day, but we shall have to wait and see.
