The Gold Road will welcome Elder Scrolls Online players in 2024

Right after the Xbox Developer_Direct, Bethesda hosted their yearly live stream for The Elder Scrolls Online, where they dove into the detail for the year ahead, though this year they have also confirmed some stuff for 2025, as the game gears up for its 10th anniversary celebration.

As far as grand adventures goes in 2024, this years main quest The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road, will arrive on June 3 for PC and Mac players and as is normal, console players on June 18. You can check out the announcement trailer for the expansion below. However before that expansion arrives, the adventures begin this March when two new 4-player dungeons are brought to the game, Oathsworn Pit and Bedlam Veil.

These two new dungeons are set to challenge you and your team with Normal and Veteran difficulties (including Hard Mode) and each feature their own Achievements and rewards (including unique collectibles and item sets).

As the series next expansion, it will offer players around 30 hours of new main quest content, plus dozens and dozens more in side quests, dungeons and other activities. If the name Gold Road does not mean anything to you, its the name of the land that spans the western boarder of Cyrodiil, and was last seen in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

This time around, instead of being a place you venture to and little else, a new threat is emerging from the region, as a Daedric Prince that has never been seen before in the series appears, and players will need to investigate Ithelia. This exploration won’t just be you solving things on your own, as players will encounter some opportunistic Wood Elves, and more citizens of the West Weald, all the while dealing with the forgotten Prince’s return. There are a lot more details to discover and you can do so on the games official site.

You won’t just be given a new sword and told to have at it, as the new expansion will come with an all-new system called Scribing. This system will have you collect skills and then using the Scribing tool, customise them to grant new abilities to your player, that will let you further define your character from other players running around. You can learn all the details over on the games official site for this new customisation system.

For those who want to give their skills some new looks, be sure to check out the new Skill Styling, which sounds like it might be the same as Scribing, but its a bit different. This new offering will come to players in the form of collectables that are rewarded in-game and when you apply them, they will change up the effects of your attacks. It is important to note that those effects are not like more damage or a slower return attack, but rather visual, so instead of purple flames from an attack they might now be yellow.

When you combine the two systems together, the result will be that it opens up a whole lot more to enjoy across the game, as no two players should have the same look, attacks and visual flourishes.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a new expansion without any new world events, trials and rewards. The new world event will take place in a location known as the Lucent Citadel, which is a Daedric vault that people have forgotten existed, but is located in the wastes of Fargrave.

Like any good TV sales personality, I have to say wait, there is more. As there are new rewards for players who quest within the West Weald to earn new item sets (both craftable and looted), collectibles (including a mount, pet, and Skill Styles), achievements, Tales of Tribute deck, and more.

Now the year is only just beginning so expect more details on all the new content as we get closer to the release of each, as for any special events for the game in Australia, there have been none announced at this time, but Bethesda do have a track record of hosting Elder Scrolls events at PAX Australia, so there is a fair chance something there might occur, if not, there is plenty going on in game.
