The Games of February 2021

Can you believe that we are in the second month of the year already, where does time go. Of course, this year there are a few big names coming out, some are hitting other platforms for the first time, having released on others already, whilst others are launching for the first time on some and coming to others later in the year.

There is a lot of RPG’s this month, as well as a few collection releases, but without any further delay, here are the biggest games coming out this month.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox

February 2 - PlayStation 4

The next adventure of Adol will see him journey to a town that contains a massive prison and located within its walls are folks with some mysterious powers and as he explores the town, he is changed and receives the same powers.

Players will get a massive RPG with a host of new characters and locations to explore, as well as countless baddies to fight and of course, the chance to find out, just what is going on. While the game is hitting PlayStation 4 this month, it is coming to Switch and PC later in the year

Skyforge

February 4 - Switch

There are a few mmo’s on Switch, with a few being locked to Japan, but now Skyforge will join the limited list globally and give players a chance to become a god, as they seek to protect their homeworld from an alien invasion.

While the main developer is Allods Team, from Russia, co-development was actually done by Obsidian Entertainment, who are well known for crafting some iconic RPG series. Unlike most RPG’s though, this does not require you to be set levels to progress in the game, instead the more you play, the more your stats increase and that unlocks your path forward.

Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition

February 5 - PC

Having already been released on PlayStation 4, where it scored very well with critics and fans alike, Nioh 2 is now making the jump to the PC, giving players there a chance to discover a world of yokai, set in the late 1500’s Japan.

As this is a Complete Edition, all of the DLC that was released overtime on the PlayStation 4, will be here for players, meaning there is nothing else you need to buy. This is not the only release for Nioh today, as both Nioh 1 and Nioh 2 are getting PlayStation 5 versions as well.

Little Nightmares 2

February 11 - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC

Set after the events of the first game, the sequel places you in control of Mono, with Six along for the ride and controlled by the system, as the pair attempt to escape from the Pale City.

The game is set to feature some more unique puzzles, some platforming and while not it’s main thing, a nice dose of horror to keep you on the edge of your seat. With new enemies and locations to discover, this might just be the creepiest game of the month and I mean that, in the best way possible.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

February 12 - Switch

Super Mario 3D World is one of the last hold outs from the Wii U games library, at least those made by Nintendo, so it was only a matter of time before it made the.. Switch.

The game has made some changes, adding online multiplayer, so no need for couch co-op this time and if that wasn’t enough, you can now run around in an all new adventure Bowser’s Fury. There is no word on why he is so furious, maybe he is just as fast, but regardless, another chance to play this game is always welcome.

Curse of the Dead Gods

February 23 - Switch, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 4

Just think what might happen if you managed to discover a new ancient tomb, what treasures lie within, well that is what happens in this game, but just because you have found it, doesn’t mean you will get the treasure that easily.

As a rogue-like game, you will have to constantly attempt to make your way through this temple, but as you collect mysterious relics, you will discover that some curses are not always going against you. Though with each blessing a curse might provide, there is going to be a downside, the question is, can you make use of it, to reach the end?

Persona 5 Strikes

February 23 - PlayStation 4, PC, Switch

Set after the events of the main game, players will find Joke and the rest of his crew heading off on a camping trip, when they discover that there is an alternate version of Shibuya, ruled by an A.I. called Sophia.

This is not a standard RPG, this is a full on Warriors game, so your party of four will have to lay down hundreds of enemies at a time. Basically, this is a musou game, but with a Persona 5 skin attached and if either of those appeal to you, this might be a fun game to play through.

Ghosts ‘N Goblins Resurrection

February 25 - Switch

There have been many classic games from the early years of videogames, that have not gotten their time in the spotlight again, but Capcom are giving one of the original challenging games a go, with this remake/sequel in the iconic series.

While the game has been developed by a new team and of course rocks that all new art style, the series creator Tokuro Fujiwara, was consulted throughout development, to ensure the game was authentic. There is a lot more here, than just another version of the game, so be sure to give it a go, if you are a fan of old school game genres

Bravely Default II

February 26 - Switch

The last big game on the list, Bravely Default II is actually the 3rd game in the series, but it is not connected to the earlier games. With an all new story and all new characters to meet and interact with, players should be ready to enjoy a massive old school RPG.

Combining modern visuals, with old school gameplay design, the Bravely Default series has quickly become a fan favourite and this seems to be extending that reach even further. Enhancing the Brave Point system and introducing the asterisks system, there is going to be a lot to discover and if you want, there is a demo you can try out right now.

So those are the biggest games coming this month, but as always there are countless more that we did not list. What games did we not include that are coming, that have you excited?
