The first look at Spider-Noir has been revealed

Prime Video, in association with Sony Pictures Television, have released the first images from the upcoming Spider-Noir TV series, which stars Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, a role he first voiced in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Well ok, in the animated movie the characters name was Peter Parker, as it played on all the dimension swinging heroes being variants, but the characters normal name is Ben Reilly. Cage will play the character here, both in the mask and without it. When the mask is not on, he is a seasoned, down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life, following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city’s one and only superhero.

The main cast was also revealed, you can see who is who below:

  • Ben Reilly (Nicolas Cage) - Back in the day, Ben Reilly was the superhero known as “The Spider”. After a personal tragedy, he stepped away from his heroic alter ego. Only an extraordinary case could call this down-on-his-luck private investigator to drop the ordinary man act and put his mask back on.

  • Robbie Robertson (Lamorne Morris) - A dedicated journalist trying to make it in 1930s New York with the odds stacked against him. He is willing to do whatever is necessary for his career as well as his best friend, Ben.

  • Cat Hardy (Li Jun Li) - The star attraction at the premiere nightclub in New York. It may seem like she is always looking out for herself, but the truth is more complex than meets the eye.

  • Janet (Karen Rodriguez) - Smart, scrappy, and loyal secretary to Ben Reilly. She wants to help her boss and his small business become successful, and she has zero problem speaking truth to power.

In addition to the main cast, the show will also feature Abraham Popoola (Atlas, Slow Horses), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire, Day of The Fight), and Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin, Harry Potter). Guest star cast includes Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson, and Kai Caster.

The big deal for this one, if you scrolled down you will see it already, is that the show can be watched in full Black and White, or colour. The proper names the show is using are Authentic Black & White and True-Hue Full Colour. The colour version will not be the full colour experience you will see in other shows of today, but rather will be more like They Shall Not Grow Old, where things were recoloured after the fact. It should be a great way to watch the show a second time.

As for when you can watch it, there is no date just yet, but we know it is coming sometime in the Autumn months of this year, so it could be 4 weeks away or 3 months away, we don’t yet know. When it does arrive for those outside of the USA, which is us down under, it will be on Prime Video.
