The Acolyte gets its first trailer and premiere date

Lucasfilm have released the first trailer for The Acolyte, an all-new Star Wars series that has nothing at all to do with the Skywalker Saga, as this takes place during The High Republic era, which is a few hundred years before The Phantom Menace. Check out the trailer below.

The official description isn’t large, but hints at a larger mystery to be discovered.

In “Star Wars: The Acolyte,” an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jungjae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems….

If Star Wars is about the underdog versus the institution, in The Acolyte the Jedi are the institution. I was so interested in a storyline where the Jedi were at the height of their power — and I don’t mean The Phantom Menace, because at that point, there’s a Sith Lord in the Senate that they’re not picking up on.
— Leslye Headland, Acolyte Creator

The show will debut two episodes on June 4th, then weekly from that point on, with there being a total of 8 episodes in the season. You can check out a series of stills from the show below.
