Splatoon 3 is inking a release this September, diving just out of the planned Winter release window

Nintendo has announced that Splatoon 3 will release on Switch this September 9, sliding just out of the original winter release window, but they have also announced that Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack members will get access to the Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion as well.

In Splatoon 3, Turf War mode can create some heated online 4-v-4 battles across a mix of new and familiar stages, where teams of four face off to cover the most ground in their ink. Newly uncovered footage provides insight on one of those new stages, Eeltail Alley, along with a look at the stringer – a new bow-shaped weapon type that enables players to sling ink sideways and vertically.

Nintendo have released an extended gameplay video for the Turf War mode, which you can check out below.

Splatoon 3 also features a fresh single-player campaign and the next iteration of the co-op Salmon Run mode. In the single-player story mode, players will join Agent 3 in a fight against the unruly Octarians and discover the secrets of Alterna and the Fuzzy Ooze

In addition to dating Splatoon 3, Nintendo also revealed that Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members can now download the Octo-Expansion for Splatoon 2 as part of the membership. If you don’t already own it, you can jump onto your Switch and visit the eShop to download it, as seen in the screen below, or you can visit the eShop on the web and redeem it there.
