Spider-Man is swinging back around on PlayStation 5 and more

PlayStation have announced that Spider-Man Remastered, which was an exclusive PlayStation 5 release and only available via the Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition, will finally get a standalone release.

Later this month, a release date is not yet confirmed, Marvel’s Spider-Man will bring the webhead back to PlayStation 5. It is very important to note that this is not a new game, this is just the game being sold on PlayStation 5 for the first time, outside of the bundle it was in.

A nice inclusion for the release though is that anyone who owns any version of the PlayStation 4 release, can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 edition for a nominal price. The image below is for the American market, so the price point is likely to be $15 or $20.

If you own the game digitally, then you are good to go, just buy the upgrade, however if you own Spider-Man on PlayStation 4 on disc, then you need to insert the disc into the PlayStation 5 Disc Edition to play the PlayStation 5 edition. So those who have moved from discs to digital only are not able to take advantage of the upgrade offer.

The other half of the Spider-Man news is that on Free Comic Book Day, which is this Saturday, a special Spider-Man 2 prequel comic will be released. The basic outline of the story is “What if Peter, Miles, and MJ had to team up against a new Super Villain whose powers they didn’t understand?“

The comic will also serve as a bridge between the events of the Mile Morales expansion and the upcoming sequel. You can learn more about the comic on Marvel.com
