Samsung have announced new additions to their Odyssey Neo line of gaming monitors

When people think of Samsung most will think of phones, tablets or TV’s and if they are not your first thoughts, you might be thinking of fridges, washing machines or vacuums. PC Gamers will know them for their display work, which we have seen in countless sizes, ranging from the average phone screen, up to the massive 85inch TV, but it is their newly enhanced like of gaming monitors that you need to pay attention to.

On August 8th, gamers can get their hands on the new Odyssey Neo line of gaming monitors, in the G8, G7 and G4 variants, delivering enhanced display quality at prices that are quite affordable, let us start with the biggest one in the range, the G8.

The Neo G8 is a 4K display, running at a refresh rate of 240Hz, with a response time of 1ms, all packed within a 32inch curved panel that is developed using Quantum Matrix Technology.

Phil Gaut, Senior Director of Display and Brand Memory, Samsung Electronics Australia said: “The Odyssey Neo G8 monitor will deliver an incredible gaming experience for Aussies that we believe will give them an almost, unfair advantage against their competition. This release is an exciting moment for Samsung as it reinforces our commitment to delivering innovative products that set new industry standards and empowers people to do more with their technology. “We’re really looking forward to bringing the world’s fastest 4K gaming monitor to this market and we are confident our customers are going to be as excited as we are when they see it.”

The Odyssey Neo G8 is also built to provide a wide range of innovative features to enhance any gaming experience. The monitor is equipped with new display technology called Matte Display which provides both anti-glare and anti-reflection protection, minimising distractions and keeping users focused on the content in front of them. Plus, the monitor offers a Height Adjustable Stand (HAS), as well as Swivel and Tilt functionality for ergonomic efficiency and Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) compliant mounting. Users can customise their space for maximum comfort and productivity, supported by the flexibility of the Odyssey Neo G8.

The back of the display features the CoreSync lighting package, you can see it below, which detects the colours being shown and replicates them, in order to help extend the lighting around your screen, bringing you into the image more.

The price on this one, considering the size and tech is actually decent, with a RRP of $1,999, note that I said decent not cheap, given some other displays are just starting around this price, it isn’t bad by comparison.

If you want to get one for yourself, you can pre-order one today direct from Samsung, check with your local brick and mortar for their availability.

If that price is a little much, you can look at the Neo G7, the slightly underpowered sibling to the Neo G8, at least in terms of the refresh rate.

With the Neo G7, you will get the same 32-inch 4K curved display, but with a 165Hz refresh rate, down from the 240Hz from the Neo G8. Other than that, it is essentially the same display and comes with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, Quantum Mini LED technology, as well as Quantum HDR2000 with 2,000nit peak brightness and a million-to-one static contrast ratio for superior immersion that plunges players into the virtual world of any game they play.

The same rear lighting support is still here as well and the ergonomic stand, in addition to Auto Source Switch+, ensures the monitor works for the user and removes any friction while using for maximum performance, productivity and comfort. Players can also get to their content fast, without have to flip through multiple inputs, by simply turning on the PC for the monitor to instantly recognise and switch between the inputs.

Price wise, the RRP for this is $1,799, so a saving of a few hundred dollars.

The final addition to the Odyssey Neo line is the G4, which still features some power tech inside, just without the 4K resolution or the high price.

Available in 25- and 27-inch sizes, the Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080) Odyssey G4 offers super-fast 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, IPS panel with wide viewing angle and HDR10 support for a high-level gaming experience.

This is further enhanced by AMD FreeSync Premium and G-SYNC Compatibility for smooth gameplay. Users can also relax in comfort with ergonomic features including HAS, Swivel, Tilt and Pivot to find the perfect playing position.

The price for this one is very affordable, with the RRP being $499
