PlayStation 2021 Gift Guide
As the holidays fast approach, there is always the rush of trying to think of that perfect gift for those who mean something to you.
Gag gifts are always a treat, but are usually best left for the office secret Santa, if you really want to get something special then you get something related to PlayStation. Consoles are going to be really hard to get, PlayStation 5 consoles are due to come in sometime in early December, but folks will likely jump on them fast and even PlayStation 4 is out of stock at most retailers. But there are always games, some of the ones below are just for PlayStation 5, those are marked, but the rest are on both consoles.

PlayStation 5
The PlayStation 5 is the latest home console from Sony and while it might be the largest console ever made, it has the power to back it up. There are countless titles available that are exclusive for it, but with backwards compatibility for the PlayStation 4, you don’t have to leave everything behind. The big catch here is stock, there really isn’t any, at the time of writing EB Games are taking orders in store for the console, but they are the only ones.
Deathloop
Deathloop comes from Arkane Studios, makers of Dishonored and Prey and has you living in a timeloop, attempting to discover what is going on and a way to break it out. With each run you will learn a little more about the island of Blackreef and just who is in control, this game will test your detective skills, but beyond that it will also let you use a variety of guns and powers to solve the mystery. This one is PlayStation 5 console exclusive

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
If there is ever a series that could be equated to looking like a Pixar movie, that would be Ratchet & Clank, the latest adventure takes advantage of the PlayStation 5 and sends players to planets across the galaxy, in multiple dimensions, all without loading screens. But the core of the series is the relationship between the two leads and of course, those incredibly zany weapons, just be aware, it may look cute and child friendly, it will be quite the challenge. The game is exclusive to the PlayStation 5.

Lost Judgment
The Yakuza series went from obscure series to one many gamers adore, but when Judgment released from the studio behind it, some folks were a little worried. It was unfounded as the game was well done and the sequel elevates it beyond that, the sequel ramps up the action and the mystery. Something to be aware of, the subject matter that the game uses, may be quite distressing to some gamers, so please double check before you buy.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2
While the game did come out last year on the previous generation of consoles, it got a PlayStation 5 and other platform release this year, and as Tony Hawk is home on the PlayStation. Combining the first two titles, this game remade them, but managed to keep the soul of what was fun about them in the first place, so if you know someone who is a gamer from back then, this could be the perfect throwback title.

Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut
When Sucker Punch said they were making a Samurai related game, many were unsure, but then it came out last year and they were proven right. This year saw the game not only come to PlayStation 5, but both consoles saw a big expansion that saw even more story added to the game, along with a number of improvements. Plus the game has a unique multiplayer mode, there is a lot in this one.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania
This may not seem like a big reason to buy a PlayStation 5 (if you can find one) but the game was developed by the same studio that made Lost Judgment, so it feels connected. Combining a the best from the first two titles, along with levels from a few others, this is the game for anyone who loved the series, or for the gamer who loves monkeys.

PlayStation 4
If you are looking to get someone their first games console this holiday season, the PlayStation 4, in any model is a great option, at a cheaper price and literally hundreds upon hundreds of games for it, some as low as $9 during the boxing day sales, this is a great time to buy in. The only issue here is stock is just as hard to get for the older console, as it is the replacement, but with availability to happen at more stores, you might have more of a chance to get one.
