Onimusha: Way of the Sword delivers a for filled trailer

During the Summer Game Fest Showcase, Capcom revealed a new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the first brand new entry in the series in 13 years. Check out the trailer below.

The new trailer reveals formidable new foes, a surreal setting, and combat mechanics for the dark fantasy swordplay action game where a samurai armed with a mystical artifact battles monstrosities from the underworld.

In the game players can look forward to locking blades with a master swordsman from the pages of Japanese history. The new trailer shows protagonist Miyamoto Musashi duelling his fated rival, Sasaki Ganryu, in Kyoto’s iconic temple, Kiyomizu-dera. Also armed with an Oni Gauntlet, Ganryu will play a key role in this supernatural story where fabled warriors collide.

Beyond his rival, Musashi will face demonic Genma ranging from the soul-stealing Kubi Akari to the rampaging Daidara, a towering Genma with an insatiable hunger to devour everything in its way. In the footage, Musashi can be seen clashing with Daidara and its massive bludgeon in a previously unseen locale.

Throughout his battles, Musashi carves through his enemies using a variety of exhilarating techniques like powerful “Issen” maneuvers, which unleash devastating critical strikes just before enemies attack. The high-impact action also shared a sneak peek at a new weapon resembling twin hammers, which can deliver crushing blows powerful enough to shatter the very air.

The game is coming sometime in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but there is no firmer date at this time. For now, you can enjoy the giant wall of screens that Capcom released for the game below.
