Marvel’s Wolverine is coming to PlayStation 5 in 2026

After being teased years ago, Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games finally revealed itself properly with both a gameplay trailer, a behind the scenes and a release window. All very welcome things for those who like to lose themselves to the rage. Check out the reveal gameplay trailer below.
One of the big things that a lot of players were asking before today, was who would be playing Logan. Hugh Jackman has cemented his status on the big screen, with animation fans being torn between the original X-Men actor Cal Dodd or the modern take by Steve Blum. Turns out Jackman did have an impression as Liam McIntyre, another Aussie actor has been tapped to take on the role of Logan, aka James Howlett aka The Wolverine.
The team at Insomniac have confirmed that this version of Logan will still be the reluctant hero, weighed down by choices he has made in his past, which almost always results in the rage beast within being unleashed. The rage is not blinding, because even when in this mode, while he is still deadly, he is also methodical. That will allow players to get up close and personal with any who get in their way.
In the trailer above, Mystique and Omega Red showed up, along with a Sentinel, though how much of that machine was active is yet to be seen. The more consistent threat that we see in the trailer are the Reavers, a group with some unknown reason for chasing after Logan.
Speaking of chasing after, it has been confirmed that we will not be stuck wandering around the Canadian Wilderness for the game, though that is a location. Players will instead get to explore there, the streets of Tokyo and even Madripoor, making this a global adventure, we just yet don’t know the why.
The game is expected to release only on PlayStation 5 and will do so in the Spring of 2026, which means around 12 months from now, but PlayStation have confirmed that more details will come in Autumn next year, no exact date for that was given. For now, you can check out this behind the scenes video, where some of the developers explain more about the game.
