Madame Web has spun out its first trailer

Sony Pictures have released a trailer for Madame Web, a movie that is vaguely related to the character that Spider-Man interacts with in the comics, you can watch it below.

Below is all that has been said about the movie:

Meanwhile, in another universe…” In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing's most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures...if they can all survive a deadly present.

With all that said, this has to be one of the worst looking movies that Sony have produced with their rights to Spider-Man and all associated characters. Even the trailer for Kraven the Hunter looked better than this, with that one being some what true to the characters origins.

Since the characters inception, Madame Web or Cassandra Web as she is known, was born paralyzed, blind, telepathic, clairvoyant, and is a precognitive mutant. Her abilities allow her to see the future and help out Spider-Man when he sought out her help. The entire concept of the character was that they would help out folks, with their abilities and while turning her into a paramedic still provides that help aspect, the rest is just chaos.

The movie will also bring to the screen for the first time, Ezekiel Sims and Julia Carpenter, the latter of which is Spider-Woman. The other two female characters around Web in the trailer appear to be Anya Corazon and Mattie Franklin, who take on the mantel of Spider-Girl and Spider-Woman. Which yes, there will be two new first time characters on the big screen called Spider-Woman, with Julia Carpenter also becoming the next Madame Web in the future.

The movie completed filming back in 2022 and the movie still has no release date, so there is either more going on story wise than they are wanting people to know now, or they think its going to be a dumpster fire and are trying to mitigate the response.
