LG are back with the update StandbyME 2, which is out later this month

We don’t often cover TV’s here, because there is honestly very little about one TV compared to the next, but when something like the LG StandbyME 2 shows up, that is worth talking about.
LG Australia have announced that the StandbyME 2 will release later this month and bring an updated version of the first gen release, complete with features like Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
The screen size is the same on the new version as it was on the original, which means users can enjoy a nice 27inch display, with full QHD support. The big thing for this new release is that it can be detached from the stand and used either on a table, with support from the new folio cover or even hanging on a wall. Of course, when on the included stand, the screen can be displayed in both landscape and portrait modes, to suit whatever use you might have for it.
“At LG, we aim to provide our customers with innovations that enhance how they enjoy their favourite content. We recognise the growing demand for technology that adapts to modern viewing habits and flexible living environments and that’s why we engineered the StanbyME 2. It delivers practical portability while maintaining the premium viewing experiences LG is known for.
It’s designed to be a versatile companion for modern homes – a flexible screen solution that easily integrates into different aspects of the day, ensuring entertainment is both convenient and high-quality.”
While the screen is designed for use in a home, it can also be taken on the go, with the 4 hour battery life ensuring you can watch no matter where you are. One of the big features of this portable display is that it runs on the same OS that the large TV’s from LG do, that means all those apps and features you know are here.
One of the new ways of connecting is that there is now a USB-C port for charging it, but it can also be used for connecting external devices, like hard drives. There is also HDMI input for those who want to take their Switch or other gaming device with them and with Bluetooth audio, you can enjoy everything without disrupting those around you.
Of course, it also has in-built speakers which use both AI Sound Pro and AI Clear Sound process audio to create immersive virtual 9.1.2-channel sound, couple that with the Dolby Atmos support and you have an impressive audio setup, even more so when you consider it is portable.
Finally, the device fully supports touch and while you can use that to control it, I would suggest you use the included remote, you know to avoid finger prints. But that touch control can also be used to play the handful of games that can be downloaded on to the device like Chess or Billion Marble.
Now all this tech does come at a cost, as the RRP for the unit is $2,199
