Lego have unveiled the first Pokemon sets featuring the original icons

The Lego Group and The Pokémon Company International have finally announced the first Lego sets that were teased last year, with the three sets coming out on February 27, which is the same date as Pokémon Day, the date the first games released in Japan.
There are three releases in the first series, an Eevee, a Pikachu and the trio of Blastoise, Venusaur and Charizard, the last one being my personal favourite. That last one is a massive set though, it has almost 7,000 pieces and has a local price of $999.99, making it one of the more expensive ones. Now while it does look like its one massive set, these three Pokémon can be displayed individually or together on the action base, which hides easter-eggs for fans to discover as they build.
“Pokémon has always inspired discovery and connection and partnering with the LEGO Group brings those qualities together with creativity and imagination into a new form. By combining Pokémon’s sense of adventure with the thoughtful design and attention to detail of the LEGO Group, we’re giving fans the chance to build, play, and tell their own stories in ways they’ve never experienced before - something we’re thrilled to see come to life.”
The Pikachu set has the character bursting out of a Poké Ball, which leaves a small trail of sparks shooting out as he does. The Eevee is the most basic off the sets, as it is just an Eevee standing there. All five of the Pokémon will have posable looks, so you can create a few different scenes on your shelf.
“As a lifelong Pokémon fan, it’s been an incredible honour to help bring these Pokémon to life in LEGO brick form for the first time. Pokémon has inspired generations of fans around the world, so our team approached the design of these sets with immense care and passion, ensuring every detail and pose truly celebrates what makes these characters so beloved. I hope fans will love building them, as much as we did designing them.”
As always, the details to the three sets are below and you can pre-order now, with release happening on February 27. One final thing of note, all pre-orders will get to choose from a gift and in keeping with the Pokémon theme, it is a recreation of the badges players would earn in the first game, as they battle to become the Pokémon Master. Right now, it is only a gift, but there is a chance they may choose to sell it after the promotion period ends. You can see all the details here.
