GRID is racing back to the track with an all new entry in GRID Legends

Kicking off EA Play Live was the reveal of GRID Legends, the next chapter in the GRID series of racing games, but this one is not just about racing, it is about becoming a racing legend, check out the reveal trailer below.

As you might have noticed in the trailer, there is live action story cutscenes, along with races where vehicle types are different in the same race, ie Trucks vs Open-wheeled cars.

Races will still take place on the range of tracks fans known, ovals, street and off-road, so things are not changing there, something that is new though are the live action story moments and race creation options.

“GRID Legends combines everything our players love and adds more exhilarating race features, including our new epic story mode,” said Chris Smith, GRID Game Director at Codemasters. “We’re giving players more variety and choice, whether that’s creating their ultimate races using our race creator or bringing back the community-requested Drift mode. This is just the start of the journey, and we can’t wait to reveal more in the coming months.”

In this game players are front and centre in a fly-on-the-wall documentary that captures every moment on and off the track. Drivers encounter fierce personalities, internal team politics and the infamous Ravenwest Motorsport, which hopes to take a sixth World Championship. Featuring actors like Ncuti Gatwa, the cutscenes were filmed using technology that viewers might know from The Mandalorian, just on a small scale.

Those looking to create their own races can do so, which is how we got trucks vs open-wheels in the trailer, but mixing vehicle classes is not all you can do, you can make use of all the circuits to craft your new event, including the new locations London and Moscow. Compete on over 130 routes, including real-life tracks such as Brands Hatch and Indianapolis, to iconic GRID city circuits like San Francisco, Paris, and more.
