Far Cry is getting a TV series and will be on Disney+ in Australia

FX have announced that Far Cry is getting adapted into a TV series, with it being created by Noah Hawley and Rob Mac, known for their creations Fargo and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Hawley will be known by anthology show fans as the creator of the Fargo tv series, with each season focusing new characters and stories, but all taking place within the same world. The most recent show from Hawley is Alien: Earth, which brings the Alien series to Earth, thus the name.
“What I love about the ‘Far Cry’ game franchise is it’s an anthology. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of ‘Fargo’ is a variation on a theme. “To create a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and chaotic lens is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, ambitious sensibility to the screen.”
Rob McElhenney, or as he is now known Rob Mac, is the creator and one of the stars of It’s Always Sunny, which has done 17 seasons, produces and stars in Welcome to Wrexham alongside Ryan Reynolds and co-creator and star of Mythic Quest, which is produced by Ubisoft.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized. Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support.”
Now details about about the show are slim, but we know it will be an anthology series, with each season offering up new characters and settings, much like how each game, bar the first few, all take place in new spots and with new protagonists. Rob Mac will star in the series, but in what role is not known.
Now this is not the first time that Far Cry has been adapted, but let’s just say the movie was a far cry from what fans wanted. If you don’t believe me, you can check out the trailer for it.
There is no release window for the show, but I would imagine 2027 at the earliest.
