Elgato is putting a focus on users with the new Facecam 4K

Elgato have revealed another new product, but this one is all about the big picture as Facecam 4K is the name suggests, a 4K capable webcam.
Featuring a Sony Starvis 2 CMOS sensor 1/1.8" and advanced image processor, Facecam 4K captures Ultra HD video at 60 frames per second, twice the frame rate of competing webcams. The camera supports resolutions of 2160p all the way down to 540p, so it should cover every use case you can think of.
“Back in 2022, we engineered the world’s first 4K60 webcam. Facecam 4K builds on this technology with better image quality and more creative control, at a price more people can afford. What once cost thousands of dollars in camera gear now sits comfortably on your monitor”
Now like most Elgato cameras, you can just plug it in and get to using, but this one is slightly more special as it supports Camera Hub. Once connected, Camera Hub will give users, what Elgato call DSLR-like look options. With manual ISO and shutter-speed settings, users can dial in exposure like a professional camera. PTZ controls let them pan or tilt freely around their scene, then zoom in digitally while staying remarkably sharp.
In-app LUTs make pro colour grading effortless, with curated pre-sets and a growing collection on Elgato Marketplace. NVIDIA RTX users can even apply realistic background blur, for that signature DSLR depth-of-field effect. Additional features like advanced noise reduction and HDR round out a comprehensive toolset rarely found in webcams.
What makes this camera more appealing than just using an actual DSLR, apart from it being a lot smaller, is that you can swap lens. With support for 49mm lens’ users can equip any they already have or buy new ones to suit what look they are going for.
As for when you can get one and for how much, orders can be placed today and the Australian price is just $289, making it one of the most affordable 4K cameras around. If you want to learn even more about the camera, you can do that here or check out the video below.
