Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake arrives this October

Square Enix have announced, in celebration of Dragon Quest Day that Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will arrive this October 30th, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
Just to make it clear, while these are called 1 and 2, the story takes place after the events of 3.
In DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake, players take control of the descendants of Erdrick, the legendary hero whose legacy is passed down through generations following the events of DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake.
Sadly, there is something confusing about the release, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition. Square Enix have confirmed the game is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, but they have not confirmed the first game. But where it gets confusing is that they also said this:
The digital-only DRAGON QUEST HD-2D Erdrick Trilogy Collection, which combines DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake and DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake, will also launch for the same platforms on Oct. 30.
Where it is confusing is that the first game has not been announced for Nintendo Switch 2. Also, speaking of the Nintendo Switch 2 edition, it is being released in Japan as a Game Key release, but the Switch version is on the card. We are waiting for confirmation from the local team on our offering.
The good news is that Square Enix will be selling a physical release via the Collector’s Edition, which includes the game on all consoles, except Nintendo Switch 2, as you can see by the infographic below.
A few new screens from the PC release were revealed as part of the news.
