Dragon Ball: The Breakers is set to offer a new way to experience the iconic world

In an unexpected move, Bandai Namco have announced an all new Dragon Ball game, Dragon Ball: The Breakers, a 7v1 asymmetrical multiplayer game, that has one player take on the role of villains like Cell, Freeza or Buu, while the others attempt to escape.

Set in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse universe, seven normal “Survivors” have been sucked into a mysterious phenomenon called the “Temporal Seam” and must contend with the overwhelming power of the eighth player, the franchise iconic rival “Raider,” whose task is to obliterate the Survivor team.

Check out the message from the games producer Ryosuke Hara below.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers also features a Survivor character customization mode which enables players to design their match avatars by using familiar DRAGON BALL Survivor skins and decorative equipment earned with in-game credits or via optional in-game purchases. Additionally, Dragon Ball: The Breakers will link save data with Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.

“The DRAGON BALL series has been a global fan favourite for over 37 years and DRAGON BALL: THE BREAKERS takes the classic over-the-top action formula and offers an innovative twist with its online survival gameplay,” said Lin Leng, Senior Director of Brand Marketing at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. “Both new players and long-time fans can expect an extremely fun and engaging experience; whether playing as a Raider hunting down fellow gamers or as a Survivor, playing cooperatively to team-up against an iconic rival.”

“We can’t wait for people to try this complete new take on the Dragon Ball franchise!”, said Ryosuke Hara, Producer on DRAGON BALL: THE BREAKERS, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc. “We are working hard with the team at Dimps to provide brand new fun asymmetric multiplayer experience that we want to be accessible for all, while offering a strong wealth and depth of gameplay and situations. We are looking forward to welcoming you during the Closed Beta Test”

The game is coming to Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2022, with support via backwards compatibility on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. More details are expected soon, who knows maybe at The Game Awards next month.
