Details on No Return, the new mode coming to The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered are revealed
PlayStation and developer Naughty Dog have released the first details and trailer for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered’s new rogue-like mode, No Return. Check out the new trailer for it below.
The mode is a single player offering, so those hoping to team up with fellow fireflies are out of luck. In the mode, players will be thrown into some familiar locations, but most everything else will be completely new and different.
Locations that have been announced so far are Jackson and the Channel 13 News Station, but more will be included. While the location might feel familiar, what takes place in it will be quite different as choices you make in them, will impact the flow.
The major thing to be aware of is that death is the end of your run, die and you lose all your weapons items and any upgrades you obtained in the run and have to start fresh, which randomises everything again.
With each choice you make, you will start to see different things take place, a more challenging encounter on your path may lead to greater rewards or a different modifier for next time. Each run will end with a boss fight against one of six enemies, clear everything and you will get to face them again, but with some additional twists.
Before you think this is just going to be a harder version of the base game, the runs are actually divided up into four groups, here is the info on each:
Assault: pits you against waves of enemies
Capture: break into a safe full of valuable supplies enemies are guarding
Holdout: players and an AI-controlled buddy defend against swarming Infected
Hunted: survive until the timer runs out against continuous enemy reinforcements

The Last of Us Part II Remastered is coming to PlayStation 5 on January 19th 2024 and owners of the digital version from the PlayStation 4, or disc owners with a disc enabled PlayStation 5 console, can enjoy an upgrade for $20, if they so want.
