Blades of Fire is getting a massive 2.0 update this May

505 Games and developer MercurySteam have announced that Blades of Fire will get a 2.0 update on May 14, adding in elements like New Game+, new challenge level, a photo mode and more. The game will also come to Steam for PC players, as it has previously been an Epic Game Store exclusive. Check out the new trailer for the game below.

The game released last May, so the update is also an anniversary update, giving long time players more to do in the game. When the game launched last year, we reviewed it and found it to be a fun, challenging game and one that had a fun mechanic, so it will be interesting to see how these new updates slot into the experience.

These are the new contents and additions coming in the update.

New Contents

  • New Game Plus

  • New Challenge Level: Titanium

  • New Weapon Parts & Skins (only available in New Game Plus)

  • Elements Transmutation, which allows players to change material types

  • Photo Mode

  • Boss Revival Mode (a new game mode where you can replay boss fights and earn rewards)

  • Adso’s Spells on weapons for a deeper combat (rewards tied to Boss Revival Mode introducing spells that enhance weapon abilities with special effects)

  • Now you can pet the Ox in Blades of Fire.

Improvements

  • Expanded death and mutilation variations

  • Improved animation transition

  • Nvidia DLSS4 implementation.

Other

  • Full key remapping for keyboard and mouse control

  • New Achievements

  • Steam Deck Support.

For those who have been waiting for the game to come to Steam and can’t wait any longer, a demo is now available on Steam for you to try. The good news is that progress made in the demo will carry over to the full game, so think of it is as jump start to the full adventure.

The game is currently available on PC via the Epic Game Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
