Apex Legends: Upheaval is making some big changes
Electronic Arts and developer Respawn Entertainment have announced that Upheaval, the latest season of Apex Legends is now live and brings with it a new legend, new modes and map changes. Check out the first trailer, which will help set the one.
The second trailer is an actual gameplay trailer, which will give you a good overview of what you can expect in the new update.
Solos is back, replacing the Duos mode that launched previously, but there are some changes for this new version. First up is that the developers have combined aspects of the most popular modes to keep the gameplay engaging: utilise your Battle Sense to spot nearby foes, wreak havoc with pre-equipped weapons and attachments, and sustain the battle with auto-heal and Second Chance mechanics.
The mode will be available from today through to June 25th, so you have some time to enjoy it.
Broken Moon is the map change location, this time now detached and now floating in outer space between Cleo and Boreas, the colony of Hope is forever changed. The Terraformer has had to recalculate and adapt which has, in turn, mutated familiar biomes and created an exotic landscape.
Where Promenade East met West is now the Quarantine Zone. Promenade was wiped out by the Stasis Array Node that crashed down to the map. When what appeared to be Olympus collided with the Stasis Net satellite, Broken Moon’s protection was no longer—allowing the crash debris and meteors to rain down along with unknown biological material that has required the area to be quarantined.
It isn’t just the Promenade that is impacted by the changes, as Breaker Wharf was also affected by the debris raining down, which gave us some room to play. Because this POI was so secluded from the rest, we felt that there was an opportunity to move it – and move it did! Now, look out for it where the Backup Atmostation was.
You can get more details on all those changes and more, here on the official site.
The newest Legend to join the fight is Alter, here is what the team have said about her:
When Alter emerged from her dimension into another with her past held close to the chest, she had only two things: her interdimensional traveling Void tech, and a desire to have fun. She did what she wanted when she wanted, never needing to stick around for the consequences of her actions. Morality and responsibility were things of the past as Alter traveled throughout different realities, drawn to worlds on the edge of complete destruction.
The character falls into the Skirmisher class and you can get the full details on her backstory, powers and more here.
Finally there is another Battle Pass for the game and with the Upheaval one, players may unleash devastation right from Level 1 with the Legendary “Void Touched” Volt and Epic skins for Alter, Wraith and Revenant. Legends can then crush hearts in Seer’s Legendary “Creeping Void” at Level 25, and embrace the darkness with Catalysts’s Legendary “Void With” at Level 50, ultimately mastering the void and earning the “Void Impulse” Reactive 30-30 at Level 100 and Level 110.
Players get the chance to corrupt their style with Apex Artifacts - the universal Mythic Melee Cosmetic that can be equipped by any Legend, in any mode. Each variant’s Theme, Power Source and more can be customized using Exotic Shards - mixing and matching to craft a player’s own calling card of destruction.
All the details for the new pass can be found here.
The update is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch.
