Alienware have added the cherry on top, for their m15 and m17 laptops

Alienware have announced that their m15 R4 and m17 R4 laptops will soon get futuristic, as they will come packed with the all new Cherry MX keyboards, that feature ultra low profile switches.

The addition of this new type of key is not a random thing, Alienware and Cherry MX have been working on this collaboration for over three years.

Upon experimenting with an array of material and mechanical changes across 160+ prototypes, they ended up with a co-developed a 3.5mm ultra-low-profile design, that not only incorporates stainless-steel mechanical components, but still manages to light up, letting you have light on your laptop, if you so choose of course.

Inspired by the upward-opening gull-wing doors of the iconic DeLorean sports car and if you look at any of the images, either above or below, you can see they managed to get something similar. You can learn more about their process over on the Cherry MX website.

The refreshed laptops, complete with the Cherry MX ultra low profile switches are available in Australia, starting today, with the m15 R4 starting at $3400 and the m17 R4 starting at $3700
