The Sims 4 goes free-to-play, at least the base edition of the game does

In a move that is honestly quite surprising, Electronic Arts have announced that on October 18th, The Sims 4 will be going free to play on PC and consoles, meaning if you have never jumped in, now you can.

Now it is super important to note that the free aspect of the game only applies to the base edition of the game, the big content packs and expansion are not included in this.

The team are hosting an event on October 19th at 4am AEDT/3am AEST that will go into more details, but it is something to look forward too.

Finally, for those players who already own the game, from September 14 through October 17, all players will receive the Desert Luxe Kit as a gift. With the Desert Luxe Kit, Sims can relax in their modern oasis with luxurious indoor and outdoor furniture, inspired by the natural landscape of the Southwestern desert and materials like stone and wood. To redeem the Desert Luxe Kit, simply log into the game and it will be available in the main menu for you to claim

The Sims 4 is out now for PC, Mac, PlayStation and Xbox, but will cost you money, with content and expansion packs priced independently.
