Star Wars The Old Republic is getting a new APAC server

While Bioware may have stepped away from The Old Republic, with Broadsword picking up the reigns of the game from them earlier this year, it seems that it won’t just be the same old routine. As Broadsword have announced that a new APAC server for The Old Republic is coming and will actually launch on November 17th at 6am AEDT.

Called Shae Vizla, yes named after the character also known as Mandalore the Avenger, who first appeared in the game as part of the Shadow of Revan expansion. Access to the server will open at 6am AEDT on November 17th for paid members, but for those enjoying the game for free, access will begin a day later.

A letter from Keith Kanneg the games Executive Producer can be found here, along with a FAQ which should answer any questions players may have.

If you have not played the game before, and want to test it out, you can do that for free and enjoy both the Rise of the Hutt Cartel and Shadow of Revan expansions. The remaining ones require a membership to access, but there are four of them with the last one, Legacy of the Sith coming out last year.

There has been a lot of content added to the game since then and there is even more on the way with update 7.4 called Chains in the Dark. You can check out the video below to get a rundown on all the content coming in the update, or click here for the main points.

One of the big new additions in the 7.4 update is an overhauled lighting system, which Twitter user @BrandonLStarr captured in the screens below. Just note that the new image is from the Public Test Server, not the full release of the game, so things may change between this image being taken and the full release.
