eFootball is the new name for Konami's soccer series and is now free to play
Konami have announced that PES 2021 is back, but with a wholly new name, now known as eFootball, it will deliver the same gaming experience as fans of the series have come to know, but now completes its name change, check out the reveal trailer for it below.
Back in 2019 the game started the name change, going from Pro Evolution Soccer to eFootball PES, but now they have dropped the PES from the name.
Interestingly, the game will now be free to play, meaning that you can get your yearly dose of soccer, without having to buy a game, however.
“As a digital-only title, Konami will regularly add new content and game modes after launch this Autumn, In the future, certain game modes will be sold as optional DLC, giving players the freedom to build an experience that follows their interests.” - a statement from the publisher reads.
Check out the roadmap below, to see what you can expect to come to the game as time goes on.
What is interesting is that the game will also support full cross play, on its many platforms, because when the game is released it will launch on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, with iOS and Android devices getting it later in the year.
As for when this will go live, there isn’t a date yet, but given that the mobile games are due sometime after the consoles and PC, one would expect those to come either in late September or early October.
