Mario Tennis Aces serves up new some details

During today's Nintendo Direct, the company took a deep dive into some of the gameplay mechanics in Mario Tennis Aces, which is coming to Nintendo Switch on June 22.

Players will get to choose between a standard match of Tennis, well as standard as it can get in the Mushroom Kingdom, or they can play with crazier rules. As you play, you will be able to earn power, then when you want, you can spend that power and launch some truly powerful shots, or slowdown time and attempt to return a dastardly serve.

The game will also offer up to four player multiplayer, both online and local and if you want to play on your own for a while, you can do so in the story mode.

Players can use a variety of control methods to play the game, even using a single Joy-Con for a mode called Swing Mode. In Swing Mode, players can use their Joy-Con controllers like a tennis racket, swinging them to replicate the tennis swings in the game.

Plus with 15 characters announced for the game, at least so far, there is bound to be a player for every, well player. If that was not enough, but a free Mario Tennis Aces demo is coming soon. For a limited time, players will be able to try out online tournament matches in the game before it launches. To participate, players just have to download the demo in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch when it is released in the future.
