Pokemon Celebrates 20 Years By Announcing 2 New Titles And Brings 3 Classics Back


Overnight, the Pokemon company hosted their second Pokemon Direct and in it, they officially announced the next versions of the Pokemon series coming to Nintendo 3DS later this year, Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. You can watch the direct below.



While no actual information was given out about what players can expect in these new titles, a press release issued after confirmed a new region, new Pokemon and new adventures. Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon will also support Pokemon Bank, which allows users to transfer Pokemon from older games and bring them into the newer titles.

“The Pokémon core series games are the centre of the Pokémon universe and provide some of the most memorable Pokémon moments for our fans,” said J.C. Smith, senior director of Consumer Marketing at The Pokémon Company International. “I can’t wait to see what fans think of the new adventures they’ll find in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.”

Pokemon Bank is also an option for those looking to download the classic Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue and Pokemon Yellow versions, which are available today on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console.


Pokémon from Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X, and Pokémon Y can also be transferred to Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon through Pokémon Bank.
