Call of Duty Black Ops 4 to lose single player and replace it with a battle royale mode?

Multiple outlets are reporting that this years entry in the Call of Duty series, Black Ops 4, will not have a single player campaign, which would be a first for the series.

Being developed by Treyarch, the Black Ops series has well been known since the first released in 2010 and while the stories have been interconnected, you could play one, without knowing the full details.

If this is true, this would mark the first time that any entry in the Call of Duty series would release without a campaign, however it would not be the first time that people could get multiplayer content alone, as on PC, that has been something Activision have allowed for a while.

If that was not enough for you, there are even rumors that Black Ops 4 will have a Battle Royale mode, a first for the series and the first massive game to add it. Player Unknown's Battlegrounds was a new IP, as was Fortnite.

The mode is set to be developed by Raven Software, who have done a lot of work on the Call of Duty series before, most recently, the remaster of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Of course, until the official debut of the game on May 17th in the USA, May 18 for us here in Australia, all this should be taken with a grain of salt. The game is set to release this October for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One.
